Still Life With Fan (Diptych) 46" x 42" Acrylic on Panel
I hung this new painting today along with 8 others in the Mildred Owen Concert Hall, at the Sanchez Art Center in Pacifica. "Opera Meccanica" is the name of the exhibit. I"ll announce the date of the Opening Reception soon. If you'd like to see the paintings before then, go to one of the great concerts! You can check the concert schedule and other visitor info here.
You can see this piece in person at the "Roots" exhibition at the Sanchez Art Center. It continues my "Mechanics of Wonder" series and pays tribute to Joan Baez and Nancy Hall, two women activist/musicians that I admire.
The opening for the exhibit is on May 21, 7pm. It opens concurrently with Enrique Chagoya's exhibit in the Main Gallery. For more info check out the art center's website here or the Art Guild of Pacifica's website here

Balance 22" x 30" Acrylic on Paper
This work is from about 2 years ago. I was thinking about it because of the bright colors and swirly background.

Lift Me Up 60" x 60" Mixed Media
I made this painting quite a few years ago. The three figures are part of the gospel group, "The Blind Boys of Alabama".
This one took a awhile to complete. It went through several versions before I was ready to leave it alone.

Nizhoni 20" x 20" Oil on Wood
This is a new oil painting I'll be showing at my Open Studio that opens Friday December 11th. What a busy weekend! Also opening the same night is the Statewide Drawing and Printmaking Competition at the Triton Museum in Santa Clara. My mom and dad said they would baby-sit my studio on Friday evening from 7 to 9 pm so I can be at the Triton.

Nightfall, Center of the World Mixed Media 46" x 36"
This is a fairly new work that I pulled out of my studio painting rack yesterday. Its an acrylic painting combined with some collage elements...its about a moment in time that occurred while I was out walking- awhile ago on my birthday. While walking down the hill I saw the sun setting on the ocean... and then I looked behind me and saw the moon setting on the opposite horizon. At that moment I felt like I had reached the middle of my life, and at a point in space where I felt like I was in the middle of the world.....deep, huh? That's what can happen when you go for long, meditative walks on your birthday.
